Line To Your Right

What it takes to become Pope.

If you go to that page, you'll see a sidebar. Towards the bottom is "Potential Successors". Click on that, and a javascript window opens.

My question: Will the Democrats begin calling the Catholics racist if the Cardinals do not select a black pope? It's well within their MO, if I'm thinking of the same Democrats.

The best candidate to fit that bill? Cardinal Francis Arinze, who, according to CNN, stated that "the family" was "banalized by pornography, desecrated by fornication and adultery, mocked by homosexuality, sabotaged by irregular unions and cut in two by divorce." Let's not forget his idea to withhold communion from those who favored abortion rights.

So now, if they were to pick him, the Church has selected someone who falls into the Dems' list of "Gay-bashers". So now Catholics are going to be racists or homophobes who don't support a woman's right to her own body. The next papacy should be interesting for that reason alone, no matter who gets chosen. If he gets chosen (which the more I look at it, the more I'm hoping), then the Church may be forced even further to the right in America.

If any pope decides to tackle poverty in Africa, I should hope they make the connection between Robert Mugabe * Years In Office being directly proportional to People in Poverty, instead of Poverty=Crime.
